So you’re concerned in a homestay experiencing with a rural hilltribe community in village of northern Thailand? Great. Just keep in mind, don’t be expecting luxury hotel type for accommodations. Be prepared for average basic accommodations without too much luxuries. For instance your shower will be very elementary and exist of a bucket of cool water that you empty on yourself. Or maybe your toilet will be the conventional Thai squat toilet, which is flat to the ground and does not flush by itself. In this situation you have to pour one pot or two of water to force the toilet to flush. Not a pleasant experiencing for who enjoy the differences stuff in their own home but don’t worry, if you have selected the proper homestay, you’ll get a very rustic but fresh and clean room with a useful bed. You have not to be anticipating gourmet restaurant style food, even so meals should be very luscious and healthfully offered. The women in the village who arrange your meals will most likely be very qualified cooks and well proficient in their own food traditions. If you’re a vegetarian, tell them, and they should be able to welcoming you.

Actually I have no specific private experience with in Thailand, I had the chance to do a site investigation of a relatively new homestay in the hills, about a sixty minutes drive from Chiang Mai, the tourist center hub of Northern Thailand. Rooms were small and simple as expected but very fresh, clean and had a petite outdoor verandah with bench in addition to a small zone inside the room to lay your personal belongings.
The villagers grow both coffee and tea in the instantaneous vicinity and many citizen in the area were engaged in farming and other agricultural habits. While perusing the merchandise in their community’s gift shop, you can buy a special neck collar-pillow stuffed with aromatic green tea. For some aboard reason, this is United State customs might tear it apart looking for opium but they didn’t even bat an eye.
